I have seen Savage Messiah numerous times now whilst they perform the songs from 'the Fateful Dark' Hailing for London from 2007 these guys have just constantly worked tirelessly on their trade and like a fine wine, have just got better with age. They play british thrash metal. and boy its awesome. The crowd may not have known the band when they came on to the stage, but they sure did when they left. All you need to know is got hold of a copy of 'The Fateful Dark' and headbang till you head falls off!!
Huntress came on to a rapturous welcome. Last time they came to Manchester they were in support of Lamb of God. They came to Hunt, Destroy and leave a trail in there wake. Now, unfortunately we didnt get the interview prior to the gig but the gig was worth the disappointment. I do not know what your opinion of Female-fronted metal bands, but when they perform like Huntress you can see the great things. Jill has one of those voices that draws you in under a false sense of security before ripping off your head an spitting down your throats.
The stand out track was 'I want to Fuck you to Death' maybe cause of the title or becuase of the unified screams of support when Jill shouted out that the song was written by the one and legendary 'Lemmy'. Now, we all know what was being thought when it was being written. But not only has it got a vocal hook, but the backline provide the pounding heavy rhythm, the guitars wail and what you have got is truely a piece of magic. The crowd had been dragged b oack from the hunt, and they loved it. Everyone was ready for the one and only Amon Amarth.
Last time I saw Amon Amarth live was at Download festival, when they took to the stage with the viking ship. Now the stage wasn't going to be as big, so unless we all got in to the long boat, we could mosh in that as they played.
These metallers who on tour for their 'Deciever of the Gods' album. The band took to the stage in the midst of multiple air cannons. The crowd were all ready and boy did the Viking stronghold take hold and crowd went bezerk. Crowd surfing, mosh pits and headbanging galore.
Amon Amarth just didnt let up for the whole set the drums heralding the beat to fight towards the war to end of all wars with battling guitars and with Johans immense vocals the night was just a sea of pleasure.
