Review: Sweet Taste 'Hit The Spot'

Irish rockers Sweet Taste join the Rocksector Records roster and announce a new EP "Hit The Spot" for release on 22nd April 2013.

With a genuine exuberance this Belfast-born classic rock sounds fresh and exciting, with songs beautifully crafted and played. Audiences at a Sweet Taste show will testify to the band's skills in the live arena and with "Hit The Spot" the band has fine-tuned its' recording to combine the energy of a live feel with a modern clarity of sound.

Formed in 2009, the band self-released a 3-track EP in September of that year and via a true commitment to live shows soon forged a place as one of Ireland's most sought-after live acts. They've appeared at some of Ireland's premier venues such as The Limelight, Spring & Airbrake & The Empire Music Hall.

In 2011 Sweet Taste crossed the waters to appear at Hard Rock Hell in North Wales, appearing alongside bands such as Black Stone Cherry, Quireboys, Therapy? and Crash Diet.

Classic rock fans with leanings towards genre-kings such as The Black Crowes, Free and Bad Company should expect to be thrilled by the latest EP offering from this band, especially if earlier press coverage is anything to go by...

"The band's Aerosmith-meets-Zeppelin vibe definitely does leave a sweet taste in this bitter old rock n roll heart". Mark Ashby - Planet Mosh.

"Irish boys Sweet Taste are snapping at the heels of The Black Crowes with their swagger and groove" Viki Ridley - Rushonrock

Sweet Taste were just recently confirmed for an acoustic set at SOS Festival in North Manchester on 20th July and further tour dates are planned around the same time. Meanwhile, they launch the new EP with a Belfast show at The Empire Music Hall on 18th April.

"Hit The Spot" is available at the launch gig on 18th April, & also direct from the store at the Rocksector Records website www.rocksector.com . It will also be available soon in digital format at iTunes, Amazon & others.

Track listing : 1. Get Your Groove On 2. Lost My Mind 3. Knocked Out 4. Midnight Train.

Track 1: Get Your Groove On is so Classic Rock it’s Scary, you have the influences of Free, the Black Crowes. A foot stomper like bands of a similar ilk.

Track 2: Lost My Mind is just ballsy, brash and every reason why you love the Black Crowes is the reasons why you will just love this band.

Track 3: Knocked Out is like a sucker punch. Again the breakdowns, fills and the production of the track builds you to that sucker punch of the guitar solo. Classic Rock structure done to style of Sweet Taste.

Track 4: Midnight Train is in essence heavily influenced from every Classic Rock band you could mention. It seems like it has been said before, but you can never get enough of Classic Rock Bands like this.

If this is an example of what the band can do, ‘Sweet Taste’ will be tearing up stages for years to come. An accomplished EP that leaves you wanting to hear more.
